How to Tell if Your Radiator is Leaking

Is your car running hot? Has your temperature warning light come on? If so, you are probably experiencing a problem with your cooling system that may be due to a leak. The leak could come from a number of places, including the radiator. Here’s how you can tell if the leak is coming from the radiator.

When you notice a fluid leaking from your car, first determine what that fluid is. To make sure it’s antifreeze you can check the see-through overflow tank. If it’s low, you should check the coolant level in the radiator when the engine is cool. Too little coolant may cause your engine to overheat, which can lead to costly repairs.

The next thing you should do is check the radiator of a leak. Some radiator leaks are easy to spot, just make sure you look at it from all angles. If you see rust or holes in the radiator that could be the cause of the leak.
