The new Kia Sorento has a standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces up to 191 horsepower and 182 pound-feet of torque. An optional 2.5-liter turbo four-cylinder engine produces up to 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. Both powertrains are paired with eight-speed automatic transmission. This vehicle achieves an EPA-estimated fuel economy of up to 24 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, which is better than other larger SUVs in its class.
Front-wheel drive is standard, and torque-vectoring all-wheel drive is optional. However, some trim levels like the SX Prestige come with all-wheel drive standard. The torque-vectoring technology improves stability during cornering by utilizing brake force to keep the inside-corner wheels of the front and rear wheels gripping the surface, whether it is pavement or off-road terrain.
Exterior and Interior Features
On the exterior, the new Kia Sorento wears good looks. In contrast, the X-Line models feature high-utility roof rails, high ground clearance, unique X-Line rear and front bumpers, exclusive matte black lower body cladding, 18 or 20-inch alloy wheels and more.
The roof rails on the Kia Sorento allow for the attachment of roof-mounted cargo carriers or other accessories. They can securely transport items such as bicycles, kayaks or a cartop carrier. This helps to free up space inside the car and makes the Sorento a versatile option for Briarwood drivers.
The new Kia Sorento interior features 50/50 split-folding third-row seats, reclining second-row captain's chairs, an available panoramic sunroof with power sunshade and more. The SX Prestige offers a 14-way power driver's seat with four-way power lumbar support, a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats and more.
The standard 50/50 split-folding third-row seats allow for more flexibility when it comes to cargo space, as the seats can be folded down to expand the cargo area when you are not carrying a full passenger load. This feature is handy if you ever need to transport large items across Grand Forks.
