Meet The New Kia Telluride

The 2022 Kia Telluride: Well Worth the Wait For North Dekota Drivers

Are you in the market for an exciting full-sized SUV to drive in Grand Forks? Do you want an SUV that can give your whole family plenty of space to get comfortable, or that can fit all your camping gear or sporting equipment? Then you will want to reserve a new Kia Telluride at Kia of Fargo. With its impressive performance, cavernous interior, and exciting features, the Telluride might be the three-row SUV that you have been looking for. Here is what you need to know about the Telluride.

Performance

The Telluride has a 3.8-liter V-6 engine that produces 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. All models have access to available all-wheel drive, which provides exceptional traction no matter what the driving conditions are like in Moorhead. Four different drive modes (Comfort, Eco, Sport, and Smart) let you tailor the performance of your Telluride to match the conditions on the road.

Design

The Telluride comes standard with eight seats and has a passenger volume of 178.1 cubic feet, so everyone can stretch out and get comfortable on long drives back home to Briarwood. When you need to pack cargo, you will enjoy just how much space the Telluride provides. With all three rows of seats up, the Telluride has 21 cubic feet of cargo volume, making it easy for your whole family to pack their luggage for a vacation. If you need to free more space for luggage while still having plenty of seats, you can fold down the rear row of seats and utilize 46 cubic feet of cargo volume. When you need to as much space for gear as possible, you can fold down both of the back rows of seats and free up to 87 cubic feet of cargo volume.

The Telluride is not just spacious, though; it's also easy on the eyes. The exterior of the Telluride is muscular and contoured, and the front fascia boasts stylish headlights and an imposing grille. Available LED headlights and fog lights provide even more style, and available 20-inch alloy wheels. There are also plenty of luxurious additions you can make to the exterior of the Telluride, including available satin chrome accents and available LED daytime running lights.

Technology

The Telluride comes standard with a stunning 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, which makes it easy to control vehicle settings, navigation, audio, and more. A standard voice-command navigation system lets you get directions to your destination while keeping your hands on the steering wheel. An available head-up display shows important information like vehicle speed, turn-by-turn navigation, and safety alerts on your windshield, so you can keep your eyes on the road.

Safety

The Telluride has plenty of safety features that let you drive with confidence. Standard forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking monitors the road ahead of you, detecting potential accidents before they happen and applying the brakes automatically when necessary. Standard lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist detects the lane markings on the road, warns you if you begin to drift out of your lane, and applies gentle corrective steering when necessary. Standard blind-spot monitoring alerts you when you begin to change lanes while another vehicle is in your blind spot.

Kia Telluride vs. Toyota Highlander

  • Telluride's cabin is spacious and inviting, with stylish design details, high-quality materials, and large windows that provide excellent visibility and contribute to a feeling of openness. Rear-seat occupants will also appreciate the extra roominess Telluride offers compared to the Toyota Highlander. Second-row passengers will have an additional 1.4-inches of legroom, while third-row riders get nearly four inches more legroom.

  • Kia's largest model comes standard with many amenities that are only optional on the Highlander. Telluride's base trim includes features like a Driver Talk cabin intercom, a 10.25-inch touchscreen Navigation system, synthetic leather upholstery, and USB charge ports in all three rows. These features require a higher trim on the Highlander.

  • Both models offer several advanced driving aids in their base configuration, including collision mitigation, adaptive cruise control, and lane-following/lane-keeping assist. However, Telluride's standard features list is more comprehensive, adding blind-spot warning and intervention, rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, safe-exit assist, rear parking sensors, and driver attention warning. All of these either require a higher trim on Highlander or aren't available at all.

Kia Telluride vs. Honda Pilot

  • The Kia Telluride is bold and stylish, with a rugged exterior aesthetic that evokes a strong presence. The Honda Pilot is more akin to a lifted minivan in comparison. Telluride also has eight inches of ground clearance and standard front and rear skid plates, making it the more capable option away from the asphalt.

  • The Honda Pilot joins Telluride in having a more accommodating third row than many class competitors. However, Telluride is roomier elsewhere in the cabin, especially in the second row, where it offers a full four inches more legroom than the Pilot.

  • Both models offer generously equipped base trims. However, the Kia Telluride is available at starting MSRP of more than $4,500 below the Pilot. Telluride also has several standard features that require climbing the Pilot's trim ladder or aren't offered at all. Examples include a 10.25-inch Navigation touchscreen, Highway Driving Assist, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, a cabin intercom system, and Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control-Curve with Stop & Go.

Kia Telluride vs. Hyundai Palisade

  • The Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade are corporate cousins built on the same platform. As such, they offer somewhat similar experiences. However, some drivers may prefer Telluride for its more rugged aesthetic.

  • While both SUVs are nicely equipped, Telluride offers a few more standard amenities. Telluride LX includes features like a 10.25-inch touchscreen navigation system and a Driver Talk in-car intercom, which are optional for the Palisade's second tier and standard on higher trims. Dual-zone automatic climate control is standard on Telluride and a second-tier feature on Palisade. And Telluride comes standard with SynTex synthetic leather upholstery, while the Palisade has standard cloth seats.
